Alaska Environmental Satellite Workshop

The purpose of this workshop was to: 1) Determine resources in Alaska to support satellite acquisition, processing and distribution of multiple satellite data and derived products; 2) Examine Alaska Forecast Office’s satellite requirements; 3) Establish an Alaska sector for the NOAA Satellite Proving Ground where the resources in Alaska are brought forward to conduct an end-to-end capture, processing, distribution, testing, and evaluation of environmental satellite products by forecasters in Alaska NOAA Operational Offices (NWS Weather Forecast Offices (WFO), River Forecast Center, Alaska Aviation Weather Unit, NESDIS CoastWatch, etc.; and 4) Partner with other users of environmental satellite data and products including NOAA NESDIS & Cooperative Institutes, Department of Defense (Air Force, Navy), State of Alaska, Department of Transportation (FAA,FHWA, etc.), NASA, and NOAA NWS National Centers.
