AmericaView (AV) is a nationwide program that focuses on satellite remote sensing data and technologies in support of applied research, K-16 education, workforce development, and technology transfer.
AmericaView is administered through a partnership between the U.S. Geological Survey and the AmericaView Consortium. The Consortium is the federal government’s primary partner in achieving the AV Program vision and goals.
GINA is the Alaska member of the AmericaView Consortium. Programs developed through AlaskaView include:
- GINA’s GloVis-based archive of free Alaska Landsat data.
- Reception and rapid delivery of Landsat 5 data for Alaska
- Provision of real-time MODIS data to the Alaska Fire Service
- Development and commercialization of SwathViewer
- Participation in the Alaska Geographic Data Committee (AGDC)
- Encouragement and support of GIS training courses.
